Haight and Fillmore

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Haight and Fillmore, originally uploaded by Condition San Francisco.

This Sunday will mark our official move in day into “the city”. A place so sacred we locals refer to it in the same manner Hogwart’s students refer to “he who shall not be named”.

Ali and I lucked out in finding a place posted on craigslist only an hour after it was posted. We even had a chance to check out the neighborhood before we arrived with today’s technology. We were the first to see the place, and the first to grab it. And boy what a find.

Lower Haight. On Haight street. Home of “the city’s” rich history that allows it to be cockily called…. “the city”.

What better way to begin life after the great career reset Ali and I have embarked on. You can simply refer to as, “The Blessed”.

Hi Mom

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Hi Mom, originally uploaded by maubrowncow.

I just discovered that my mom reads my blog. I explained to her that she just fulfilled the ol’ joke that says a blogger’s only reader is their mother. She responded, “wait… other people read this thing?”.

Thanks Mom.

headroom

This week in headroom we finally manage to record with Mel and Jason without losing the audio files. I would let you all know what tracks were played, but this was all Mel’s music, meaning she didn’t bring titles as usual.

Desperately Lost

My old “boss” Marc Cherry on the picket line. The irony of this strike is that the void on the ol’ boob tube is gonna be filled by more internet use, the very medium they’re fighting to monetize.

Cheer Up Hollywood

Good luck to my LA Industry friends. May the writers strike be short and effective. Here’s some Bruce Willis to cheer you up.

Fuller’s London Pride Pale Ale

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

I’ve been on a long journey up hoppy beer mountain in search of the hops guru. The treacherous route cost me most of my drinking buddies along the way who fell prey to beer so hoppy it smelled like weed, (I’m looking at you Moylan’s Hopsickle). Having Finally reached the cloud touching, sun baked wise man. He said:

“Now you must climb down this mountain.”

The arrogant bastard was right. It’s time to explore more mountains of Belgium Ales, Lagers, Hefe Weizens and Stouts. Halfway down, I tussled with Fuller’s London Pride, brewed in Chiswick, London. It’s got a fantastic malt body/hop balance with a hint of citrus, but not as puckering as Kill Ugly Radio. It’s filtered amber color and light head is inviting and the mouth feel is smooth, a nice change from the slightly more carbonated IPA’s I’ve been putting down.

I had Alison’s Dad take a sip. It stopped him mid sentence. It took him back to London in a matter of 2 seconds ala spoiler moment of Ratatouille. Find it, drink it, smile at the guru above you.
