I love deadlines. I stare them in the eye and size up their threat, then I go do mundane tasks right in front of them just to piss them off. Like blog or something. Today’s deadline; Music editing on a show that dubs on Monday. Today’s procrastination Tactic; Keyboard cleaning.
With a simple butter knife, I haphazardly popped off all the keys on the keyboard and soaked them in hot water and dish soap. It was actually pretty therapeutic popping them suckers off. It’s like a mechanical version of snapping bubblewrap.
But the REAL fun began after drying the keys and attempting to snap the keys back on. I had an instant brain fart. I had accidental created a puzzle.
The thing about putting a keyboard back together, is that you have to really rely on your gut instinct. Let your subconscious take over and you’ll start flying thru the key placement. Over think it and enter a logic nightmare and geeky memory game.
I timed myself, can you beat me? 12 minutes, 8 errors.
Oh and no cheating, pop off the keys without memorizing positions. Maybe even have somebody else pop the keys off for you. Oh and try to do it under deadline pressure. Don’t worry, you won’t look geeky… I swear.
UPDATE:
9 errors. command “B”, is not the same as command “V”.
